Basic info about church

Similarities with real world religions

In the game, usage of real world religion is forbidden, to avoid certain problems. Major religions are still based on real religions, but they use their own terminology (i.e. you cannot use word God, when reffering to Christian god, but you must use its in-game name Theos.)

These are in-game religions:

  • Theological church (based on Catholic church)
  • Patriarchal church (based on Orthodox church)
  • Pagan church (based on various pagan beliefs)
  • Norse church (based on nordic pagan beliefs)
  • Mystic church (based on Islam)

How to see basic information about church

1. Open Region Information

Hierarchy

All religions are organized the same way. They are divided into four levels.

Level 1

This is the Religious Leader. He is elected on position by Elections. He can embrace new dogmas, appoint Level 2 priests, excommunicate a person and write sacred texts.

Level 2

Senior position in church. He can appoint Level 3 priests.

Level 3

First promotion in rank. He can appoint Level 4 priests.

Level 4

This is the priest that has most duties. He can baptize new people and heal and cure followers.

However, each religion has specific name for their priests:

Religion Theological Patriarchal Pagan Mystic Norse
Level 1 Summus Pontifex Triune Patriarch Primicerius Primodor Thul
Level 2 Cardinal Mitropolith High Priest Mufti Gothi
Level 3 Bishop Presbyter Prior Grand Imam Seid
Level 4 Cleric Diakonos Basilieus Imam Vifill

And same goes for their buildings:

Religion Theological Patriarchal Pagan Mystic Norse
Level 1 Holy See Patriarchal Basilica Pantheon Mystic Sacred Temple of the Four Pillars Godord
Level 2 Cardinal Palace Basilica Major Temple Mufti Palace Hof
Level 3 Bishop Palace Lavra Temple Grand Imam's Palace Horgr
Level 4 Parish Chapel Holy Shrine Mystical Temple

Faith Level and Faith Points

Faith Level

Faith Level (FL in short) is a character's amount of faith in percent.

It is increased by:

  • praying (4% per action)
  • damaging temple of other religions than your own
  • reparing temple of your religion
  • giving alms at level 4 church

It is decreased by:

  • daily (1% per day)
  • damaging temple of your religion

Faith Points

Faith Points (FP in short, also used AFP - Accumulated Faith Points) are like a currency for everything religion can do:

  • Initiations
  • Healing actions
  • Marriages
  • Starting construction projects of new subordinate temples
  • Adding a new Dogma
  • etc.

Faith points are requirement for taking a religious role. See Structure Control Requirements.

Faith Points are generated by prayer. The same amount that character earns go to the church, along with about 6 copper coins/prayer (not taken away from the praying character).

Priests of directly superior temples can transfer FP between all their subordinate temples.

It is preferable to be praying at level 4 temple, as praying there generates most Faith points for the church (and also most silver)

Every service a priest can perform drains their temple's FP.

Initiation (baptism)

Sometimes also called Baptism.

In order to join a religion, a character must be initiated by a priest. A priest can find the link to initiate a player in the page Characters present in Region or on the character's public profile.

Only level 4 priests can perform initiation. If you want to get baptized, you need to search for level 4 priest.

Conditions for character to be initiated:

  • The character to be initiated must be an atheist
  • Character that is to be initiated must be in the same region where level 4 temple is
  • Character that is to be initiated must be not busy doing any other action (he needs to be idle)

Conditions for priest:

  • Priest that is to be initiated must be in the same region where level 4 temple is
  • Priest (Level 4) must have adequate levels of Glut and Energy
  • A Golden Basin with condition >= 25% must be in the temple's storage
  • The temple needs to have the necessary Faith Points
  • Priest must have a Faith Level of at least 75%

Initiation will block both the initiated player and the priest for period of time. Expected lasting time is 2.5 hours
The Initiation can be canceled by either character, but the required items will be consumed.

Required resources:

  • 5 Glut, 5 Energy per hour (for both: character to be initiated and priest)
  • At least one Golden Basin in the structure with quality >= 25%.
  • x FPs

Initiation Effects:

  • The Faith Level of the ‘Initiated’ player will be set to 30%.
  • The Church and Religion attributes will be assigned to the character's profile
  • The Golden Basin will be consumed (25%)
  • The temple's FPs will be consumed
  • The Initiation stats of the priest will be increased
  • The Initiation stats of the temple will be increased

Restoring Health Points

If a person is atheist, he can only be cured by religions, which accepted the Cure Health Extended dogma. In this case, healing will take 4h instead of 2h and health will be restored to 100%

If a person is a follower of the faith, then, his FL must be >=75%, but his health will be filled only to his FL level. So it is best to ensure you have 100% FL before you are being healed.

Without the dogma Cure Health Extended:

  • only priests who administer a level 4 temple, can heal characters who have the same faith.
  • The character will be healed to the same level as its current faith level.
  • Healing action costs the priest 50 FPs, 20% Energy, 20% Glut
  • The service requires a Health Care Kit in the priest's inventory, which will be consumed.
  • The priest must have a minimum faith level of 90%
  • Both priest and patient must be in the region where the temple stands.
  • the patient must not do any other action, including resting.

With the dogma Cure Health Extended

  • any priest of the same faith can heal followers of his church.
  • Followers only need a faith level of 75% to get healed completely.
  • Atheists can be cured by priests of a religion with extended cure dogma (uses a Complete Surgical Kit), or extended heal dogma, (uses a Health Care Kit) and will always be cured to 100%.
  • Curing atheists takes more time (4hr instead of 2hr) for the priest and any heal or cure action drains 50 faith points the temple as well as the priest's faith level.
  • The priest must have a minimum faith level of 90%
  • Does not need to be performed in the region where the temple stands and the priest needs to have the required Item in his own inventory.
  • the patient must not do any other action, including resting.

Curing diseases

Without the dogma Cure Disease Extended (also called "Treat diseases and injuries (Extended)")

  • only priests who administer a level 4 temple, can cure characters who have the same faith
  • characters' illness will be cured
  • curing action cost priest 50FP, 20% energy, 20% glut
  • the service requires an appropriate item in the priest's inventory:
    • violet potion (plague)
    • mandragora brew (flu)
    • surgical kit (bleeding wound)
  • the priest must have a minimum faith level of 90%
  • both priest and the patient must be in the same region where temple stands
  • patient must be idle - not doing anything, not even sleeping

With the dogma Cure Disease Extended

  • any priest of the same faith can heal followers of his church.
  • Followers need a faith level of 75% to get cured.
  • Atheists can be cured by priests of a religion with extended cure dogma
  • Curing atheists takes more time (4hr instead of 2hr) for the priest and any heal or cure action drains 50 faith points the temple as well as the priest's faith level.
  • The priest must have a minimum faith level of 90%
  • Does not need to be performed in the region where the temple stands and the priest needs to have the required Item in his own inventory.
  • the patient must not do any other action, including resting.

Temples

Each religions has four levels of temples:

See Structure Control Requirements to learn about the requirements to become priest of a temple

Damage and Repair

Temples are the only structures that can be damaged and destroyed in the game.

A temple can be damaged by characters in the same region, who need to equip a Pickaxe and start the action from the temple's tooltip menu. The action consumes energy, glut and decreases the Pickaxe's as well as clothing and shoes condition, the temple's condition is reduced by 0.5% per action.

A temple can be repaired by characters in the same region, who need to equip a Work Hammer and start the action from the temple's tooltip menu. The action consumes energy, glut and decreases the Work hammer's as well as clothing and shoes condition, the temple's condition is improved by 2% per action. Repairing a temple also requires a stock of wood and iron in the temple's storage, which will also be consumed in the process.
