NPC stands for Non-player character, which are inhabitants of the world that are not controlled directly by players. Usually in role-playing games NPCs are fictional characters that belong to a plausible social group around a PC (Player Character), like family members, friends, servants, guards, etc.

In ME NPCs are creatures who are not controlled by any player, but follow a coded behavior automatically.

NPCs interact with the world to a limited extend, that is not fully disclosed by the game admins. See below for details.

Native

Natives are inhabitants of a region and appear periodically to start a Native Rebellion in two regions at the same time. Those regions are chosen by a script that checks various variables and determines the two most unstable regions according to:

-absolute variables:

  • Does a castle exist in the region? (If so, there will be no revolt in that region)
  • Did the kingdom suffer a revolt in the last 90 days? (If so, there will be no revolt anywhere in that kingdom)
  • Is the Kingdom currently attacked by another Kingdom? (If so, there will be no revolt anywhere in that kingdom)

-relative variables:

  • Distance from the kingdom's capital (the closer the better)
  • Number of buildings in that region (the more the better)
  • Number of citizens who are inside the kingdom's territory (the more the better)

The number of natives on the battlefield depends on the kingdom's size. See Native Numbers for details.

Each native will have a randomly chosen set of character attributes (Strength, Dexterity, etc.) and war equipment. The available weaponry ranges from simple tools to very good weapons.
