Baron/Baroness is a title of honour, often hereditary and marks the transition from low to high nobility, being higher in rank than Lord, but lower than Viscount. The title is granted by a kingdom's Regent to rule over a small fief which usually remains property of the Kingdom.
To become a Baron, you don't need to meet any in game mechanical requirements. A Regent can appoint up to 2 Barons/ Baronesses for each castle the Kingdom owns. The title can also be customized to reflect a regional or roleplay equivalent. The crown icon seen above can also be altered, making it harder for others to recognize the rank.
This role is mainly for Role Playing purposes.
