Knights are people who were granted the lowest ranking noble title by a vassal for their service, especially in the military. Together with Lordship, Knighthood is considered a class of the lower nobility, though in the west as the time had passed on they developed their own identity based on the chivalric code. They were the first to benefit from the feudal system, which was designed to focus enough wealth and labor onto them, so they could afford their equipment and training. As elite warriors they faded into history when discipline, equipment, tactics and training and thus professionalism for the common infantry improved.

[edit] Requirements

To become a knight, you don't need to meet any in game mechanical requirements. A vassal can appoint up to 4 knights.

The title can be customized to reflect a regional or roleplay equivalent. The heraldic icon seen above can also be altered, making it harder for others to recognize the rank.

This role is mainly for Role Playing purposes.

[edit] Duties

kingdoms can decide for themselves wether and which duties or privileges they want to give with the title. For reference, those may include among others:

  • military duties
  • award for exemplary loyalty, efforts for the kingdom's benefit, etc.
  • administrative duties
  • come with a salary
  • exemption from certain laws
