Repubblica venezia small.png The Serenissime Republic of Venice is a reign that makes neutrality and peace its most important values. Those who wish to live in these lands will find cordiality and cooperation, dialogue and active collaboration. We believe that everyone has the full right to flourish and the kingdom must do everything in its power to promote the prosperity and the emancipation of all.

Venice is one of the most active kingdoms, so that the Doge and the other members of the city government respond to the letters always within 24 hours. There are a number of initiatives, funding and calls for citizens. Everyone has a chance to express their opinions and participate in city life, regardless of age or role that is covered.

History

At the head of the Serenissima there have been many rulers, a sign of a deeply troubled history. The first Doge was Elijah O'connor, ascended the throne in September 28th, 1310 after having arrived in Venice with his brother Orlando from Falkirk, Scotland. His figure raised concerns among the population of Venice, unwilling to be governed by a foreigner. However, he was a good Doge, laid the first rudimentary foundations of the city.

He was succeeded by Astolfo Tizzoni, from 27th October 1311 until the first week of March 1311. He laid the foundation for the growth of Venice, focusing on the good work of its citizens. He issued the first decree and the first laws for the organization of the market and the city life. However, there were numerous tensions with other states, especially Germans, and military intervention in support of the Italic allies.

The third Doge was Otto Himmler. There are few and confusing news. Took office the first days of March 1311 and stayed there for a month, until April 4th, 1311. From Germany, he established a period of tyranny and terror. He never cared for its own nationals, depauperated the royal coffers before being defeated by a revolt led by Simone Palaeologo.

Simone Palaeologo became Doge on 5th April 1311, following the success of the revolt against the usurper, releasing Venice and its citizens. During his reign Venice has lived in peace and serenity, which allowed to grow and to forget the suffering. His untimely death shocked the entire population of Venice.

The fifth Doge of Venice was Giovanni di Baldino Suardo, in office from 15th May 1311 to 17th April 1312. Already vassal, his regency was the longest in Venice's history. The city growth was significant, eleven regions were conquered, a lot of buildings were built, including the training camp "I Leoni di San Marco". After almost a year of regency he decided to abdicate in favor of his countryman and ruler of Genova Tancredi Bellini. However, the vacant throne was seized by the Marquis Tiziano Maurizio Fieschi II, causing misunderstandings and discontent led to raids and bloody battles, culminate with a challenge to single combat in Padova, in which Giovanni di Baldino Suardo defeated his rival handing the throne to the heir.

Tancredi Bellini brought peace and stability, in turn abdicated in favor of another famous venetian, Bartolomeo Foscarini. He also held the reins of the kingdom with mastery, building structures, proposing initiatives and supporting the growth of his fellow citizens. He also decided to abdicate in favor of the return of Giovanni di Baldino Suardo, who is still in office. Since his return to the city, a lot of works were made, including the cardinal's palace and started the construction site for the Academy of Venice. He reaffirmed the status of neutrality, resumed contact with all reigns and reorganized Venice, offering the position of vassal to the one against whom he fought long before, the Marquis Tiziano Fieschi II.
